First branch of the network, FERDEDSI Cameroun was launched in August 2006 to fill the institutional gap in awareness-raising activities and field studies within North-South university cooperation in the sustainable energy research. The first actions were the organization of workshops to aware people about the interest of working with renewable energy accompanied by exhibitions on this matter. The practical aspect came with the maintenance of small size hydroelectric and solar structures as pilot project for demonstration.

Since 2009 a vocational training structure, government-approved, offers skill and capability building services for technicians, students and young academic researchers. This structure quickly became a kind of field-labs for the students of many Universities for the South as well as for the North. It is now an Institute, called IPEED (Institute of Water and Energy Practices for the Development) and facilitating the raise of national autonomous business incubators.
In 2014 at training program in computer start with special focus on young girls and women.
